Consultation & prescriptions
Write a prescription fast — typeahead medicine names, one-tap repeats, templates and past-visit recall.
Starting the Rx
From an appointment's Quick actions, click Write prescription, or open it directly from a queue card. The screen loads the patient, the recorded vitals for this visit, and the patient's recent visit history alongside the form — everything needed to write the Rx without leaving the screen.
Diagnosis and medicines
- 1Confirm the Doctor field (defaults to whoever the appointment is booked with) and type the Diagnosis.
- 2Add General instructions if there's diet, activity or lifestyle advice that applies to the whole visit.
- 3For each medicine, start typing the name — a dropdown suggests matches from the Indian drug catalog plus this doctor's own recently-used names, tagged Yours.
- 4Picking a suggestion fills the medicine name and, where known, its generic/salt name underneath.
- 5Fill Dosage (e.g. 500mg), pick a Frequency preset (Once daily, Twice daily, etc.), and set Duration (e.g. 5 days).
- 6Choose Food timing (Before / With / After food) and confirm the Time of day chips — picking a frequency preset sets sensible default slots, which you can then override by hand.
- 7Add Special instructions for that medicine if needed (e.g. "Avoid milk").
- 8Click Add medicine to add more rows, or the X on a row to remove it.
- 9Set a Follow-up date if the patient should come back — this is what powers the Follow-ups recall list.
- 10Click Save prescription.
Time of day chips follow the chosen frequency automatically until you hand-pick them — after that, changing the frequency won't silently move your chips. A Match frequency link reappears if you want to snap back to the preset.
Repeat last visit & frequent medicines
- Repeat last visit (top of the screen, when the patient has a prior Rx) refills the diagnosis and every medicine row from their previous prescription in one click.
- Frequent — a row of chips above the medicine list showing this doctor's most commonly prescribed drugs; tapping one adds it as a new row instantly.
- If the form already has medicines typed in, both Repeat last visit and Apply template ask whether to Replace the existing rows or Append the new ones — nothing is overwritten silently.
Prescription templates
Save a common diagnosis + medicine set (e.g. "Common cold pack") as a reusable template with Save as template. Templates can be kept private or shared with the whole clinic. Apply template opens a picker of saved templates — pick one to drop its diagnosis and medicines straight into the form.
Past-visit recall panel
The Past visits card on the Rx screen shows the patient's recent diagnoses, the medicines prescribed each time, and any follow-up date advised — without opening a separate patient record. Click Show all to expand beyond the most recent visit.
Vitals on the Rx screen
A read-only Vitals card shows BP, pulse, temperature, SpO₂ and BMI as recorded for this visit, so the doctor has them in view while prescribing. If nothing was recorded yet, it says so plainly.
Printing, PDF and dispensing
Once saved, the prescription opens as a clean A4 document with the clinic header, doctor details, the medicine table (with schedule and food-timing chips), advice and follow-up date, and a signature line.
- Download PDF — generates the prescription as a PDF file.
- Print A4 — prints the on-screen document directly, formatted for an A4 sheet.
- Dispense at pharmacy — (clinics with the pharmacy module) opens the pharmacy sale screen pre-linked to this prescription, so the pharmacist can dispense exactly what was written.
Reopening an existing appointment's Rx screen loads the saved prescription for editing rather than starting a new one — you'll see an "Editing RX-xxxxx" banner, and Save prescription updates it in place.
It only searches once you've typed at least 2 characters. Give it a moment — a "Searching…" hint shows while results load.
Templates never overwrite a diagnosis you've already typed — they only fill it in when the field is empty.
Yes, click the X at the end of its row. You can't remove the last remaining row — add another first if you need to replace it.
It simply doesn't appear — that action only shows for clinics with the pharmacy module active.
